BRIEF HISTORY OF MBAGWA COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, LESSEL

School Sign board

Mbagwa Community Secondary School took off on the 2nd February, 1975 with 40 students for the 1974/1975 academic year. The founding of this school was on the advice and inspiration of the Late Aper Aku who told the Mbagwa District Council of the need to establish a secondary school to cater for the large number of primary institutions in the area. This he told them was most necessary since there was neither missionary nor government post primary institution in Mbagwa, and since there was no plan to establish one in the near future.

The idea was heartily welcomed by the then District head of Mbagwa Late Maru Abuul. He immediately called a general meeting of Mbagwa sons and daughters both at home and those living outside Mbagwa. At its first meeting/launching, the attendance was impressive and thousands of naira was realized on the spot. A board of Trustee as well as steering committee was appointed to take care of funds as well as infrastructural development of the school.

With subsequent launching, the community got enough capital to start off and on the 2nd February, 1975 the first set of students selected from among the seven kindred of Mbagwa began classes. By the 1976/1977 session, the school began to enjoy government grant in-aid and has since taken her place among grant aided schools in the state.

Creation of the entire universe and its fullness is the handwork of the Almighty God. This was not done to exist in vacuum hence the creation of man on the 6th day. Man was initially created to work less but live more to praise the Almighty God. Disobidience of man however compelled God to change His initial plan to man thereby making a declaration that "out of your sweet you shall eat".
The early man lived more from hand to mouth depending heavily on naturally endowed foods, stream water, animal skin for his clothing etc. with increased procreation population...read more >>
